Smoky. This is what you get the moment you open a Johnnie double black. Your nose is filled with the aroma, the distinct flavour of this drink. The glass closes in your nostrils and with every passing second the flavour, the smokiness, and the oak become more and more intense. You taste it. You know, this is a whisky to be savoured, to be celebrated. You don’t drink it after a tiring shift to calm you down. This scotch, it is the real deal. This is a stepping stone to the magical world of whiskies. You breathe it in. The rivers, the trees, and the air of Scotland surround you. You become a part of it. You are now in the highlands, and you drink its nectar. Aye, that’s it. Johnnie double black. Whatever path you walk, you keep walking with your chest high and your spirit… lifted.
NOSE
Obvious but gentle smokiness. Vanilla and cloves.
PALATE
Smoky and sweet. Cloves and honey. The peatiness is very interesting in this blend and it makes me think of Islay malts.
FINISH
Soft smoke, spices and and hints of citrus.
